The teaser trailer of Barbie is trending big time on social media
The makers of the Barbie film shared the teaser trailer on Friday and it has created a lot of buzz on social media for more than just one reason.
To begin with, the film's lead actor Margot Robbie is perfect in every way as the walking, talking Barbie. The other thing the internet loved about the video was its homage to the iconic scene from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Taking a leaf from the "Dawn of Man" sequence from the 1968 film, the Greta Gerwig directorial shows young girls playing with their baby dolls, with Helen Mirren's voice over: "From the beginning of time, the first little girl existed.
Ever since we came into the U.S., there have been dolls. But dolls were baby dolls forever and ever..." Enter Barbie.
It is Margot Robbie as a Barbie who appears out of nowhere instead of a monolith,
causing a kind of awakening while Richard Strauss's Sprech Zarathustra moreover plays in the background.
